CRAZY FRIDAY NIGHTS IN NYC..YAFFES..TUBAS..A PRIVATE PERFORMANCE..& MORE!

Friday in NYC is the new Saturday...you want to start your weekend off right-and going out FRIDAY nights..right after a week of stress at work is the perfect way to get the party started!! Everyone deserves to unwind-and Friday nights in the CITY can get CRAZY...especially when you know u get to sleep in the next day! so I started the evening off with cocktails with friends I hadn't seen in a while my FAB Dumbo boys(Mark and John)...in chic meat packing district The Cook Shop...moved to chelseThe GYM (oh i have to talk about this place! in another post)....rushed to a swanky house party in SOHO...I told u Fridays are CRAZY..anything can happend. So here I was at a party with ppl I have never met..actually really nice..beautiful and RICH!! Think..lifestyles of the rich & famous...but classy..stylish..modern chic.

So my friend (Mark) and I anxious to meet more ppl..leave the party to find 3 musicians right on Greenwich st. all in black ZOOT suits...one with a Tuba, a drummer, and a trumpet player..all we had to say was "play for us" which was the greatest feeling..they musican spontaneously started BELTING amazing sounds..."follow us they said..we're performing 2 blocks down the road"..so here we Mark and I we had our own barat "indian wedding procession"...we walked right behind the band..it was the most unique feeling..there was no one on the st. but us...the trumpet player who was also a singer...had a harsh cartoon...Jazz voice he was amazing!!!

Long story short...we get to Yaffes Cafe (cute bar) on Greenwich St. Where the boys continue to perform...it was fantastic! Had a couple drinks and I still regret not leaving with Mark!-the live preformance continued at another bar on LES...Oh well it was one of those nights where you kinda say..now how many ppl get to experience that!! Seriously... Alyways endup having the craziest most interesting evenings when we hang out!! Thanks Dunbrack!...

SODA-PROSPECT HEIGHTS

Since I'm from Prospect Heights, I have to make sure that I represent my hood u know! SODA is definately growing on me. Located 2 blocks away from on Vanderbelt and St. Marks SODA draws all types of people! I went to Soda with a bunch of random people I met at house party in the summer-turned out that I ended up meeting more people there.....and the night was so great that it ended at 6am with Pineapple Martinis! AH yes...starting to miss the Summer already...
But yes, on that note SODA gave me a good vibe since then-and I have been there for happy hour weekdays...and recently went to get a couple Brooklyn Largers (big up) on a Saturday. The DJs on Saturday are amazing! First old skool Hip Hop, break beats etc. and then late night DJ spinned some great reggae tunes...(a real Reggae DJ with some serious tunes.....)

The crowd is very Prospect Heights...laid back, not pretentious, mucho lesbian ladies, HOT men.. alot of eye CANDY! which is always fun.....basically FAB Brooklyn peeps just having a good time!
They also have a great patio..gives u a nice Euro feel where you can enjoy the cool outdoors as you sip on your beer…They have scrumptious bar food..the best fries I’ve had in a while!!

So for straight up BEER, BURGERS, FRIES CIGARETTES, AND FUN head to SODA you never know how your night is gonna turn out when you go here!(it’s a good thing! LOL)

MMM MMM..MAGNOLIA..CUP CAKES..THE BEST EVA..

There is a reason why the line is so long outside the famous Magnolia! Magnolia is a quaint bakery, located in the West Village on 11th and Bleeker. Amidst all the sex stores, and brownstone grandeur, it stands apart thanks to the crowd that is often lingering outside waiting just to have 1, 2 or a dozen cup cakes!
All kinds of people flock here- tourists, locals, ahem even celebrities (apparently its one of Sarah Jessica Parker's our Sex in the City gal's favorite spots), and foodies just to get a bite of the creamiest most fatty yummy mm mm good cup cakes. I discovered this haven when my colleague dragged me during our lunch break to get a "treat" one summer afternoon when I used to work Soho, I have been hooked since then! This is one of those guilty pleasures that you just have to enjoy without thinking of it. My colleague and I used to convince ourselves that it was ok to get Magnolia cup cakes every now and then as we would split it-less calories, but same satiating sinful feeling- the kind that makes u feel so good!!!

YOU WILL NEVER SEE CUP CAKES THE SAME WAY!! TRUST ME PEEPS..ITS WORTH THE STROLL TO THE WEST VILLAGE!

DID YOU KNOW? Cupcakes evolved from muffins during the nineteenth century, and gained the name "cup" cakes or "measure" cakes because of the use of the practice of measuring the ingredients using a standard-sized cup instead of the previous practice of weighing the ingredients.

SPICE..CHEAP THAI

Located on University Place, Spice draws the NYU crowd as well as NY locals/tourists. It’s a prefect spot to meet on a Friday night to catch up with your friends! As you walk by this restaurant, you'll see tall windows that you can see right through-gives the exterior that trendy effect (at least they are trying!) Yes, the wait is about 20-30 mins for a table, but hey anything for cheap eats in the city-especially quality Thai food. I have to say that for its reasonable pricing, and diverse menu, you will not find a better deal in the city for Thai food! My favorites include the broad black noodles with pork or chicken (only like $9) and I always end up taking a doggy bag home. To invigorate the genuine Thai spices on your palette, pair your entree up with a passion fruit Bellini-the bubbly really does all that flavor justice!

HAPPY HOUR

Looking to releive some stress on Wednesday or Thurdsay...Link is the perfect place to do it! Located on Irving Place It's laid paid, got great music-Music that you can't take too seriously-Hip Hop, cheezy pop-my favorite kind. The vibe is definately an after work crowd looking to catch some good tunes and simply grab a couple beers to feel a little irie! Try the Hefeweizen beer (wheat beer) acutally pretty good! Light but full of flavor. They serve $4 cosmos, and apple martinis, that are a little on the sweet side, but they do the job!

The DJ on Wednesday nights is my favorite-he spins some old skool Hip Hop with the like a splash of Top 40 Tunes..perfect just to unwind, kick back and enjoy a weekday which simply reminds you that Friday is almost here!

GIVE IT UP FOR DJ HUD..EVERY WEDNESDAY DAY NIGHT AT LINK...LOCATED ON IRVING PLACE UNION SQ.

DID YOU KNOW?"Hefe" means yeast, "Weizen" means wheat. Hefeweizen is a top fermented, unfiltered, bottle conditioned wheat beer with a noticeable yeast sediment and a cloudy appearance. Wheat beers are also referred to as Weissbiers (white beers) because before the invention of pale lagers and pale ales, most beers were dark. Wheat beers were the exception as the wheat content lightened the colour of the beer.
